Just an Update/ Bragging

I finally reached over fifty pages in my book!
Okay, this may not seem like a big deal. But it is. I have NEVER written this much of one book before, and I've been trying to write a book since freshman year of high school. I'm kind of writing ADD, which is why a blog is perfect for me. But long-term writing tends to give me a wandering eye. I'll get about fifteen pages into something semi-promising, and then I think, "Ooh, what if I wrote a book about a girl kidnapped by pirates who becomes totally bad-A?!". So I start writing that instead, and about ten pages in I realize it's complete crap and I set it aside and become depressed, thinking, How did I ever think I could write a book? I'm obviously not that great a writer. Couldn't even make PIRATES interesting, what is wrong with me? I'm so unoriginal and blah diddy blah blah blah. Then a few months later I'll read something awesome/terrible and I think, "Ooh, I'd love to write something that amazing!"/"Geez, if this got published, I definitely have a shot. I can do way better than that."

So, yeah. Fifty pages is pretty much my Holy Grail.

Any ideas on how I should celebrate? And have you done something recently that you're proud of? Do tell. We'll celebrate internet-style!

  1. Bottle of sparkling cider?! That's how I love to celebrate anything that I can find an excuse to celebrate.

  2. A big bowl of Strawberry Icecream! (or is that only to drown sorrows in?)

  3. Ooh what's it about??

Whenever I have a legit "go me" moment, I definitely treat myself to something. Whether it's some kind of food or a pair of shoes (on sale o'course) or whatever, I feel I deserve something special. Little stuff like that for the milestones-50, 100, 150 pgs. etc.- then when it's done, dinner at a fancy restaurant or whole new outfit, accessories and all! Or heck, trip to Disneyland maybe? That's what I plan on doing when I finally graduate. :D

  4. Well that's pretty awesome. I can't wait to read your book! (Side note, have you thought about writing short stories/children's books?) You should probably definitely celebrate with pizza! Or some other terrible for you food that you usually deny yourself :) That's how I celebrate, anyway!

  5. I wrote a recipe post for my friend's food blog. Now I know I could never have a food blog. I feel the need to elaborate way to much information about each ingredient and each step. Her posts? Short and sweet. Mine might have been 50 pages. Also, commenting on a blog (yours!!). I haven't been able to channel my thoughts long enough to comment on blogs lately. (let alone write a post for my own blog!)
