You know those cheesy surveys that always used to make the rounds on MySpace and Facebook? You know, the state your name, age, last dream, etc dealios? I could never resist those suckers, try as I might. Sometimes I would answer them all just because there was ONE question I wanted to answer because I had a funny response. I may have had too much free time on my hands.
Anyway, lately I've been wishing for one of those surveys again, so I figured I'd make one up myself. Because I know what I have good answers to.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I had originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but the show Animal ER totally ruined that for me. I liked the general idea of helping animals, but the reality of cutting them open, blood everywhere, animals in great pain, some of them dying. . . I suddenly had the crushing realization that it wasn't all snuggling bunnies and applying band-aids. Which animals would probably hate, anyway, since ripping off ban-aids sucks with even a teensy amount of hair.
So, with vet ruled out, I took inspiration from another Animal Planet show. Pet Psychic. Yeah. At least, I think that's what it was called. I have a fuzzy recollection of it--a British woman, hugging cats and saying they suffered from some recent trauma that was causing them to be suddenly distant with their owners, that kind of thing. It was my dream job. I now know how silly this is, though. I mean, aside from the whole "there is (most likely, but not going to rule it out completely) no such thing as a pet psychic", animals don't even like me. If I could read their minds, they would probably be saying something along the lines of "please leave me alone. Please, please, for the love of all that is holy, leave me be, woman!" And then I would become manically depressed.
What was the last thing you cried about?
Since I spend so much time nursing and cuddling Lincoln, I've worked my way through a good number of entire TV series for the background noise. Right now I'm re-living Buffy the Vampire Slayer (by the way, my Ten Things I've Learned From Buffy the Vampire Slayer post is often how people stumble on this blog, according to my stats. Why exactly are you people Googling life lessons from Buffy?). Anyway, a couple days ago I watched the episode where Oz cheats on Willow with another werewolf, and Willow's heartbroken reaction set me off. Stupid female werewolves, being all pheromone-y and whatnot! McKay called right in the middle of it, and I had to pretend my sniffling was due to allergies.
Well, that's enough survey for now! I may do more another day I have nothing to talk about.
I just read your post about the Buffy episode in which Oz cheated on Willow with another Werewolf to Dad. When I said it made you cry, he said, "It made me cry, too!" I should add here that when I exclaimed, "Really??", he started to laugh & said, "No".
ReplyDeleteLet's find one of those old surveys from myspace and start circulating that thing on blogs. Those were the BEST. I loved answering them, and then reading what I wrote over and over and over. . .
