Don't Ever Go Back to California, Mom

My mother is here for the week and I love it. I love having someone to talk to during the day. I love having someone I'm so comfortable with to ask advice from (I hate asking questions sometimes because the stuck-up part of me is ashamed that I don't already know the answer). I love that we're so in sync (not N*SYNC) that twice already we've answered a question McKay asked at the same time in the exact phrasing. I love that we can do nothing but watch Arrested Development all day, and we're both perfectly fine with that. I love how much she loves Lincoln and wants to hold him all the time.

  I love my mom.

  Random Updates:
  • Lincoln looks more and more like McKay every day, I swear. I know it's incredibly cliche to say "they grow up so fast!", but he's changed an incredible amount just since yesterday. I should know, since I stare at him who knows how many hours a day.
  • I still have no idea what I'm doing as a mom, but the process of figuring it out is pretty fun.
  • It is incredible to be able to sleep on my stomach again. And to stand up without feeling like a beached whale. And to put on my shoes without panting. My stomach looks rather grotesque right now, but I find that rather amusing on the whole. I like to poke it because it feels like play dough. I'm very mature.
  • Lincoln has burped a grand total of once in his life, and he has never spit up to date. My baby is kick-A

  2. I was actually going to ask you about sleeping on your stomach. Thanks for answering beforehand! I'm so glad my mom will be able to come out when Hudson is born too!!

  3. I love this. Thank goodness for moms. And for kick-A babies who make it all worth it!

  4. Oh man, spit up. It is the worst. It's probably the thing that causes me the most anxiety.

I want to hold yo baby! But, I can't come to Oregon right now. I'm going to Washington this summer, maybe I can stop by on my way through? (Like I have any idea what I'm talking about, because I don't)

  5. I am so glad your mom could be there!! She was pretty excited! Can't wait to meet him!

  7. That's really sweet how you bond with your mom :) as for having no idea what your doing, you'll figure it out. You never stop learning/growing and you and Lincoln are gonna grow together :) I wish you all the best in your journey through mother-hood <3

  8. I don't think I've ever cried as hard as I did when Mom left after Ethan was born. I still cry every time she leaves because she is such a nice, reassuring, fun person to have around. You are doing great as a mom! At about this point with Ethan I was thinking we were going to have him taken away by the state because I was so incompetent. You seem to be adjusting much better than i did!
