Day 29: What I Live For

Like Hank Scorpio, the evil/best boss ever on The Simpsons, I think it's the little things that make up life. Here's a list of some examples of little things that I live for:
  • After our shows, we go out to greet the children. One of the little girls yesterday gasped when she saw me and said, "GOLDY!" She ran up and gave me a hug and her teacher took a picture of us together.
  • I was wiped out last night and McKay carried me to bed (I made it to 9:00) and cuddled me while we read Far Side cartoons together.
  • I know that, any day now, Cadburry Mini Eggs will be stocked.
  • Every time Kyle, who plays Hansel/Baby Bear, gets his Baby Bear fat suit on, we chest bump. It's soft.
  • When Sylvester gets needy (which is 90% of the time) and follows me around the apartment, jumping into my lap anytime I sit for 20 seconds.
  • Baking a truly excellent batch of brownies.
  • Discovering an excellent new book/play/movie/show.
  • Getting a stroke of genius while doodling for my felt-stitch thingies.
Ah, Simpsons. The wise things you've taught me. On a government-issued history test in eighth grade they asked , "What is the main teaching of Buddhists?" and Sideshow Bob's voice whispered in my ear, "The essence of suffering is desire." It was one of probably five questions I got right on the whole test.

  2. I was thinking about your post as I opened the silverware drawer for the 50th time today to admire my new silverware divider. It's amazing how much pleasure we can get from simple things. I'm also enjoying the daffodils & hyacinths by our front door - every year I'm thrilled when they come up.
