Day 2: Three Legitimate Fears

1. I fear being a widow. In the LDS church, once a woman is sealed to a man in the temple (meaning you are a family for FOREVERS, none of this "til death do you part" stuff), it is very difficult to be un-sealed. And women cannot be sealed to more than one man (which I still think is lame), so if your husband up and dies on you . . . You're more or less screwed. Because I imagine most LDS men want to be sealed to their wives, so they're not going to dilly-dally with a girl who someone's called dibs on for time and all eternity. Oh, and, you know, it would also majorly suck to be without McKay, of course. He's very much the perfect man for me. He's incredibly patient, he's super dorky, and he's just all-around husband/father of the year. So, yeah, his dying would be not my favorite thing in the world.

2. I don't know how "legitimate" it is, but I fear having to bury Lincoln using only a wooden spoon. Or contracting a debilitating disease. Or any of the other "inspirational" stories I hear that have me pulling the covers over my head at night so the monsters can't find me. I don't get inspired; I get worried. Because my life is way, way too good. It's like a time-bomb waiting to go off.

3. I really can't think of anything else besides spiders. But I don't think phobias count as "legitimate". I think it's legit, though. Those things are hideous. Blegh. Also jumping from heights. That just makes no kind of sense to me.

What do you fear, legitimately or not?

  1. I don't think I would want to get remarried if Adam died. I really liked being single. I actually have a plan figured out if Adam did die because I don't want to be caught off guard. That is legit crazy right there.

I don't know if I have any fears if my fear of men dressed in gorilla suits doesn't count, because that's probably more of a phobia too.

    1. Good for you! I think my biggest fear is that I have no marketable skills. I told McKay that I already married for love; if he dies, next time it'll be for money, haha. Mostly joking there.

Guy in a gorilla suit? That's rather specific, did you have an incident with that or something?

    2. You know what? I don't know!! I vaguely remember a life size gorilla figure that scared the heck out of me at a gas station when I was a kid, but neither of my parents have verified that. In my memory it was robotic and waved its arm.

All I know is, I once nearly removed Adam's arm when we saw a guy dressed as a gorilla at the movies.

  2. Kim, there's this kid I worked with at LC's who always wore a gorilla mask and scared me. And he got it on tape, like 3 times. Terrible. But if it had been you, you probably would have passed out. Legitimately.

I fear losing all the good habits I learned on my mission
